5. Give money, not just time, to charity of your choice

 

This one is important and I have dedicated an entire chapter to it in my book, 50 Shades of Green.  Why?  Because there is magic in it.  Truly, there is.  Did you know that it is the only time God told His children to test Him in the Christian Bible?  Really.  God asked us to test Him in the Bible, basically saying “try this and you’ll see.”  Not only the Bible, but so many religions have you tithe or offer a percentage of your income.  It’s been covered in religious texts from around the globe.  I believe there is something sacred in this. 

 

A quote from the Bible says, “In tithes and offerings.  You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me.  Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

My husband and I used to tithe directly to our church, but now we give to other charities that we pick and choose carefully.  The point is to give to charity, to help others, not only your church.  Tithing should also come from what you produce or earn.  If you are a winemaker, then you can tithe or donate wine.  If you get a paycheck, then you tithe money because it’s what you earn.  You don’t earn time, so donating time does not count, although it is a bonus.

 

I have seen people’s income magically explode after they began tithing.  I believe part of it’s psychological.  If you donate money, your brain must see it as something extra you have.  If you believe you have enough or more than enough, then you begin to draw to you “more than enough.”  Wealth starts to pour in when you take on this “test.”
