Simple & Inexpensive Ways to Decorate Your STR for the Holidays

christmas Oct 16, 2020

The Holiday season is just around the corner and like every short-term rental property owner, you are excited to receive lots of bookings from your guests. With an increase in the number of Airbnb properties in every city across the country, catching the attention of tourists to your listing has become difficult for many owners. Here are some simple and inexpensive ways in which you can decorate your STR for the coming holidays.

1.      Decorate with Christmas in Mind

You can easily add a festive spirit to your vacation rental by placing Christmas preparations at strategic places. Your decoration does not need to be elaborate or expensive. Even a simple but elegant Christmas decoration can help to send your guests into a festive mood. You can start by placing Christmas lights that can make your guests have a very warm and welcoming feel. You can also place miniature Christmas trees inside the property. Another item for decoration is a beautiful wreath that will be appreciated by your guests.  None of these have to cost you much money and if they “disappeared,” it wouldn’t be too heartbreaking either.

2.      Welcome Your Guests with Christmas Themed Surprise Gifts or Baskets

Tourists booking short-term vacation rentals during the holiday season feel very good when they are given surprise welcome gifts with their booking. You can give a gift basket containing hot cocoa, cookies, Christmas mugs, and apple cider mixture to welcome all your guests. You can also approach vendors in your area to give away small Christmas gifts to your guests when they visit their establishments.  Mugs at Walmart are only $1 or $2.  A package from a Hot Cocoa box and a ribbon make it festive!

3.      Give Guests a Vacation Giveaway or Discount as Your Christmas Gift to Them

You can beat your competitors by incentivizing your guests if they make their holiday bookings during the offseason. Send emails to your previous guests and subscribers of newsletters, telling them that a Christmas gift in the form of a discounted vacation getaway or a contest for a free Getaway Weekend awaits them if they book your property during the offseason. Do not forget to greet all your subscribers with warm Christmas greetings.

4.      Come Up with an Alluring Christmas Deal

Tourists will arrive in your city in large numbers during the holiday season. To stay ahead of your competitors, you can create a fabulous Christmas package for your guests. Promote the deal with beautiful images on social media. Some great ideals to include in this package deal are gift certificates for a meal at a local restaurant, a gift basket containing a bottle of champagne, free tickets to a local Christmas celebration or light ceremony.  Maybe a sleigh ride or horse-drawn carriage through the park or something like it.  Think festive and create a cherished memory for your guests this season!
