10. Have term life insurance, life and disability

While you are providing for your family, you need life insurance.  There is no argument.  Don’t play around with the investment scenarios.  Just get plain and simple coverage with a straight-term life policy.  You can get creative once you are out of debt and have some money saved up.  Also, if you can afford it, I would suggest disability insurance for you and your spouse, too.  Disability is often offered through work plans and I think it is imperative if you are a single parent.
